Scholarship Fund for UPR Students

Applications for UPRAA’s annual scholarship fund are open to all University of Puerto Rico (any campus) students & High School students applying to any UPR campus.

UPRAA grants you an opportunity to succeed!

The Association of University of Puerto Rico Alumni and Friends Abroad (UPRAA) is committed to helping you achieve success. In addition to mentoring and advisory programs, UPRAA offers the following Scholarship Program based on academic achievement and financial need.

  • UPRAA - Richard Grayson Aguas Buenas Voluntario de VISTA Scholarship. This Scholarship is applicable for Aguas Buenas high school seniors pursuing studies at any of the University of Puerto Rico’s (UPR) campuses. Qualifying students must have a 3.0 GPA or above. Aguas Buenas high school applicants must be applying to the UPR or accepted as a full-time student.
  • STEM Scholarship. This Scholarship Program is available for students pursuing studies in STEM related disciplines at any of the University of Puerto Rico’s (UPR) campuses. Qualifying students must have a 3.0 GPA or above. Graduate or undergraduate students are welcome to apply. Applicant must be accepted as a full-time student.
  • GENERAL Scholarship. This Scholarship Program is available for students pursuing non-STEM programs at any of the University of Puerto Rico's (UPR) campuses. Qualifying students must have a 3.0 GPA or above. Graduate or undergraduate students are welcome to apply. Applicant must be accepted as a full-time student.

Be a full-time student for the 2024-2025 academic year in an undergraduate or graduate program at the UPR

Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or above

Qualify to obtain Financial Aid. (Fill out the FAFSA application and keep a record of the results - to be submitted with application).

NEW! Official Transcripts from registrar can now be uploaded in your scholarship application. No need to send via mail.

Complete the 2024 Online Application on or by April 14, 2024

Submit all the required documentation:

-Submit an acceptance letter from an accredited graduate school in the Continental U.S. or Puerto Rico
-Submit an official GPA certification/transcript
-Submit three letters of recommendation from a professor/advisor or manager, including original signature
-Submit a copy of the current Financial Aid qualification document or prior year tax return document
-Submit an 800-word essay (Essay should be 800 words max). The essay may be submitted in English or Spanish and must address the following question: What is the importance of community service in your desired field of study).
-Submit an electronic headshot photo
– Submit a resume or CV

Selection Criteria: UPRAA Scholarship Committee will evaluate all applications based on the following:

Academic record

Financial need

Submit a copy of the current Financial Aid qualification document or prior year tax return document

Recommendations (from a professor, counselor or advisor)

Essay

– Essay should be 800 words max. The essay may be submitted in English or Spanish and must address the following question: What is the importance of community service in your desired field of study.
