UPRAA grants you an opportunity to succeed!

The Association of University of Puerto Rico Alumni and Friends Abroad (UPRAA) is committed to helping you achieve success. In addition to mentoring and advisory programs, UPRAA offers the following Scholarship Program based on academic achievement and financial need:

  1. UPRAA-Ford's Fund STEM Scholarships

    This Scholarships Program targets students planning to pursue graduate studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at any of the University of Puerto Rico’s (UPR) 11 campuses

  2. UPRAA’s Dominion Resources Scholarships

    This Scholarship Program targets students planning to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies in any discipline at the University of Puerto Rico’s - Mayaguez Campus only.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Postgraduate studies eligibility requirements:

    • Applicant must have been accepted for enrollment as a full-time graduate student for the 2016-2017 academic year at a graduate school, and have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00
    • Be qualified to obtain Financial Aid. Financial qualifications will be determined by the corresponding financial aid office or the UPRAA Scholarship committee

    Students must submit the following to be considered:

    • UPRAA application form. Please refer to instructions in proper application (Link coming soon).
    • Acceptance letter from an accredited graduate school in the Continental U.S. or Puerto Rico
    • An official GPA certification/transcript
    • Two letters of recommendation (from a professor/advisor or manager) including original signature
    • A copy of the Financial Aid qualification document or 2013 tax return document
    • An 800 word essay
    • Two (2) 2x2 photos

    To ensure your application receives full consideration, you should:

    • Carefully read the information included in the UPRAA scholarship package
    • Follow the application instructions and include ALL required documents including original signature for applicable documents
    • Review and proofread your essay
    • Complete and submit the materials requested in a timely manner
  2. Undergraduate studies eligibility requirements:

    • Complete High School with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00
    • Be qualified to obtain Financial Aid

    Students must submit the following to be considered:

    • Acceptance letter from a University in the Continental U.S. or Puerto Rico
    • An official GPA Certification/transcript
    • Two letters of recommendation (from professors/advisor or managers) including original signature
    • A copy of the Financial Aid qualification document or 2015 tax return document
    • An 800 word essay
    • UPRAA application form
    • Two (2) 2x2 photos

Selection Criteria

  • Applicants will be evaluated based on:
  • Academic record
  • Financial need
  • Recommendations (from a professor/advisor or manager)
  • Essay response
  • Interview (finalists only)
